Lake View Camping

Back in June, Brecken took her first camping trip. We were supposed to go to Okoboji, but the forecast was calling for rain and storms, so we went to Lake View instead. Unfortunately, we didn't go far enough away to miss the rain and storms. Starting Saturday afternoon, it was a wet, soggy, muddy, windy weekend. Our campsite was one big swamp which Cade took full advantage of. He fell down two or three times and I never did get those stains out! Brecken actually did really well, especially considering how noisy it was at night due to the rain and wind. I think Jim did some fishing and Cindy & Gern had their boat so we got to go for a boat ride which Cade loved, but it got cut short when the lightning started. I spent the majority of the nights checking the weather forecast and storm warnings on my phone.

When we got home that Sunday afternoon, we were worried that we were going to find water in our basement and there was a little bit around the sump pump, but luckily we had avoided any major problems. I think that may have been the first time our sump pump has ever had to work. We didn't have much opportunity to take pictures, but did snap a few.

Cade and Grady did some "fishing" too.

Happy Camper! I think she was just starting to sit up by herself at this time...crazy to think how much she changed during the summer!
